Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is the largest state park in California. Although it's dog-friendly in some areas, dogs must be on a leash no longer than six feet and under immediate control. Dogs or cats must be in a tent or vehicle during nighttime hours and are not allowed cross-country or on hiking trails. Despite not being able to access the trails, you can still enjoy the rugged landscape formed largely by erosion from rain, snow, ice, and wind. The day use area of developed campgrounds at Anza-Borrego are open from dawn until dusk, and the Visitor Center is open Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 9 am to 5 pm.
