Harry A. Merlo State Recreation Area is a popular dog-friendly fishing spot located just up the road from Eureka. The park is home to hiking trails and a beach, and is a great spot for wildlife viewing. The more intrepid canine explorers out there may want to try their paw at some metal detecting or geocaching. Dogs are welcome to join you on a leash under six feet, but they are prohibited from entering the water.
