Fido is allowed in certain areas of Joshua Tree National Park, which features two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado. Pets must be on a leash no longer than six feet at all times, and may not go on any trails or in the backcountry. Dogs can explore picnic areas, roads, and campgrounds, but cannot go more than one hundred feet from them. The National Park reminds dog owners to clean up after their pet and bring plenty of water along for them. Visitors should check out Joshua Tree's official website for a map of where pets are allowed. Joshua Tree National Park is open twenty-four hours a day, year-round; however, some areas of the park are designated for day use only.
