Dogs are allowed at Humboldt Redwoods State Park, where you'll discover 53,000 acres, an area almost twice the size of San Francisco of giant redwoods, 17,000 acres of which are old-growth, the largest ancient redwoods forest on the planet. The park is known as one of the greatest places on the planet to see redwoods in a car, but if you're looking to stretch yours and Fido's legs, you can take them into the developed areas, park roads and campgrounds, but not on any of the trails. The park is open every day of the year between April and October from 9am to 5pm; and between November and March from 10am to 4pm.
