An awesome find! Traveling through Gunnison with our two Weims and we needed a place for them to get some exercise. We learned about this BLM land from the people at the KOA where we were staying. Hartman Rocks Recreation Area is just about 1.5 miles down the road passed the KOA. Lots of trails for hiking! And on BLM land your dog can be off leash. "Keep them under control so they don't bother other users. " We didn't run into anyone on the trails when we were there. Bring your own water! Area right off the parking lot is big and fairly flat. But easy to walk/hike into more beautiful rock formations. Here are a couple of websites describing the area.
