Arapaho National Forest is dog-friendly! Established in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt, the Forest is part of the ARP and allows pets on a hand-held leash no longer than six feet in most wilderness areas. The ARP is the most-visited National Forest and Grassland for recreation in the nation and Arapaho offers a number of scenic drives and hiking trails. Dogs are not allowed in swimming areas or sanitary facilities and must be restrained or on a leash at all times while in developed recreation areas.
