Mohawk State Forest is dog-friendly. This area encompasses the towering Mohawk Mountain State Park and is a popular place for pets and their owners to explore together. The hiking trails and the picnic areas are both accessible to dogs. The view from the top of Mohawk Mountain on a clear day is described as everlasting, taking in the slopes and valleys for miles around. The forest recreation areas are open from 8 am to sunset. Other forest areas are open one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. You may not be able to access the park during certain winter months, but it's worth calling ahead if you are unsure whether the park will be open when you intend on visiting.
