Dogs are welcome at Salmon River State Forest. This preservation area is home to an historic covered bridge that crosses over the shallow waters of Salmon River below. In years gone by, rivers and streams were dammed to provide water for the many mills in the area. Nowadays, you can enjoy the 6,000 acres of forest that have been set aside and protected. As well as being a popular hiking and walking spot, the area is very popular among anglers who can gain easy access to the water. The recreation areas of Salmon River State Forest are open every day of the week from 8am until sunset.
