Dogs are allowed at Shenipsit State Forest, home of the Shenipsit Forest Trail. This five-mile loop is of moderate difficulty, but is well worth the strain for the stunning views across the rest of the forest. You can bring Fido with you on the trail and elsewhere as long as they are on a leash. There are a number of other trails that can be found across the 7,000 acres and 11 parcels of forest. The best time of year to visit this are is between March until October. Forest areas are open one and a half hour before sunrise until one and a half hour after sunset.
