Located in the heart of Savannah's Historic District, Colonial Park is one of the oldest surviving cemeteries in the United States, dating back to the mid-eighteenth century. Closing a hundred years later, the cemetery deteriorated, but it was restored and reopened as a public park in the 1890s.
Though many of the remains have since been removed to Laurel Grove, Colonial Park retains the vaults and graves of many of Savannah and Georgia's most distinguished historical and political figures. Colonial Park Cemetery is dog-friendly.
