Dogs are welcome at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area. This 9,300-acre site is home to the cooling lake for the Exelon Power Station, the Clinton Lake. Lots of visitors bring their boats and relax on the large lake, fish for a variety of different fish, or relax on one of the beaches that hug the water. There are 5.5 miles of dog-friendly hiking trails located north of the beach including the Houseboat Cove Trail, Pond in Woods Trail, and the North Loop Trail. For more experienced hikers who like a challenge, the 9.3-mile North Fork Hiking Trail has no exits, so you and your pooch really have to be in it for the long haul.
