Mackinaw River State Fish and Wildlife Area is pet-friendly. They welcome dogs and their owners to explore the shores on the Gold Mine Trail, 2.5 miles long along the banks of the river. There are also animal trails under the forest canopy that offer hiking opportunities for the more adventurous visitors. Dog owners are reminded to keep their pets on a leash for the duration of their stay and to clean up any mess after them.
