Snakeden Hollow State Fish and Wildlife Area is dog-friendly. Don't worry, the name comes from the small creak that snakes through the park, not from there being any more snakes here than anywhere else in Illinois. What was once a coal mining area, most of the lakes around the park are a result of this mining process, except for the 160-acre Snakeden Hollow Lake. The area surrounding the water is a protected wildlife habitat, so you must keep Fido on a leash for the duration of their visit.
