Black Hawk State Park

228 S. Blossom, Lake View, IA, US, 51450

Black Hawk State Park is dog-friendly. The centerpiece of the park is Black Hawk Lake, a 957-acre natural lake. There are a number of dog-friendly trails around the lake that lead to different picnic areas for pets and their owners to enjoy. The 1.6 mile Stubb Severson Nature Trail offers visitors a chance to learn about many of the shrubs and trees. For an easier walk, you can stick to the Sauk Rail Trail, a 33 mile, hard-surfaced, multi-use trail that starts near the park and ends at Swan Lake State Park in Carroll County, the only trail in Iowa that starts and ends at two state parks. The park contains lots of different wildlife that you might spot while you explore, including deer, waterfowl and many species of songbirds.
