Dogs are welcome to explore the extremely rare gypsum sand dunes at White Sands National Monument, as long as they are on a leash no longer than six feet, cleaned up after, given lots of water, and never left unattended. Dogs are not allowed inside White Sands' visitor center. White Sands National Monument is open daily, year-round, apart from Christmas Day. Hours of operation vary throughout the year, so dog owners should check its website before planning their outing. White Sands' entrance fee is $5.
