Developed with support and partnership from the local dog owner community, Long Island Dog Owners Group, Pet Supplies Plus and Eisenhower Park officials, the almost one acre site features an area for small dogs, an area for large dogs with separate entrances. The park also features new benches, water fountains for the dogs, a shade/rain pavilion, waste bag disposal stations, a bulletin board and off-street parking.
The park is on the former site of an under-used basketball court and baseball field at the corner of Stewart Ave and Salisbury Park Drive (on the north side of the park). It has a small parking lot for 20 cars or so. It is a natural grass field, which is enjoyed by the dogs.
LI-DOG was instrumental in securing Pet Supplies Plus as a sponsor, whose help was essential in making this grand opening actually happen.
