Encompassing over 1.25 million acres, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is dog-friendly! Leashed dogs are welcome to explore Glen Canyon and cool off in the lake. Dog owners must clean up after their pets. The Recreation Area is open twenty-four hours a day, year-round. Dogs are NOT allowed in archaeological sites; on marinas, docks, walkways, and launch ramps (except when proceeding directly to or from a boat); along the San Juan River from Clay Hills Crossing upstream to the Glen Canyon NRA boundary; in the Orange Cliffs special permit area; on Rainbow Bridge NM (except for pets in vessels at the courtesy docks); on the Colorado River downstream from the dam to the boundary of the Grand Canyon NP; or in Coyote Gulch, within the boundaries of GCNRA.
