The Golden Spike National Historical Site marks the site where the final spike was driven into the first transcontinental railroad. The railroad effectively joined the east and the west, and allowed for the westward expansion that shaped America's history. The site featuresreenactments, seasonal locomotive demonstrations, ranger programs, engine house tour and living history programs. There's also a picnic area and a 1 1/2-mile walking trail to explore. Your dog is welcome throughout the park -- just keep him on a leash and clean up after him at all times, and keep him out of the Visitor's Center.
